How to create a new menu service
Here's how to create a new menu service that will appear on your work orders
Step 1: Navigate to Menu Services
-
On the left-hand side menu, click into Markups.
-
Inside the Markups section, you will see an option for Menu Services.
Step 2: Search for an existing Menu Service
-
At the top of the Menu Services page, there is a search bar.
-
You can search by service name, number, or SKU.
-
For example, if I search for brakes, the system pulls up brake-related services that already exist in this dealer’s account.
Step 3: Review sorting and filter options
-
There are also sorting options available. You can sort Menu Services alphabetically by name, by price, by the number of items included in the service, or by when the service was created.
-
Below the search bar, there are also filter bubbles. These allow you to quickly filter services by different categories, such as tire-related services, parts, warranties, and other service types.
Step 4: Start creating a new Menu Service
-
To create a new manual service, go to the top-right corner and click Add Service.
-
First, enter a name for the service. Next, create a SKU for the service and add it. Because the list is sorted alphabetically, the new service appears in the correct place in the list.
-
If needed, you can always go back and edit the service name or SKU if there is a typo or incorrect information.
Step 5: Add the first item to the Menu Service
-
Click into the service and select Add Item.
-
Choose the appropriate category from the dropdown.
-
Then enter the quantity.
-
Depending on the type of item, the quantity could be measured in quarts, liters, gallons, hours, or another unit.
-
There is also a checkbox that allows the service writer to adjust the price or quantity at checkout. This is useful if the vehicle requires more fluid or if the final amount needs to be changed when the service is added to a work order or estimate.
-
Once the item details are entered, click Add. Now the first line item has been added to the Menu Service.
Step 6: Add labor to the Menu Service
-
Click Add Item.
-
For the category, select Labor.
-
Set the quantity.
-
For the unit, select Hours.
-
Then enter a base price.
-
Now the Menu Service includes two line items: the blinker fluid itself and the labor. If there are additional items needed for this service, you can continue adding them here.
Step 7: Save the Menu Service
-
Once the service is complete, go to the top of the page and click Save Changes.
-
A confirmation pop-up will appear. This pop-up shows that a new service was created, what the service is, how many items are included, and the total cost. Review the information, then confirm the change.
-
After confirming, a green approval message appears letting us know the change was saved successfully.
Step 8: Confirm the new service is available
-
Your newly created service is now saved within your Menu Services. From here, a technician or service writer can pull this service into a work order or estimate when a customer brings their vehicle into the shop.
