Tracking a SKU through its lifecycle

With tiretutor.ai, you can be confident about your inventory.

Are you still doing a painful physical inventory count because you can’t trust the numbers on your shelf? Do you lack confidence in your stock levels when a customer asks for a specific tire?

With the Tire Tutor Shop Management System, those days are over! We provide end-to-end SKU tracking that follows every tire from the moment you place the order until it rolls out of your bay on a customer's vehicle. Say goodbye to guesswork and hello to real-time inventory confidence.

Why End-to-End SKU Tracking is Critical

Managing your inventory manually is not just time-consuming—it's expensive. Inaccurate counts lead to unnecessary emergency buys, lost sales due to stock-outs, and wasted time on tedious annual counts. Tire Tutor gives you:

  • Real-Time Accuracy: Know the exact quantity on hand for every SKU, 24/7.

  • Prevent Stock-Outs: Use committed inventory data to forecast supply needs accurately.

  • Eliminate Manual Counts: Trust your digital records, reducing the need for costly and disruptive year-end stock takes.

A Step-by-Step Guide: Tracking a Tire from PO to Payout

Here is how the Tire Tutor system ensures perfect traceability for every tire in your shop:

Step 1: Placing the Purchase Order (PO)

When you need to restock a tire—for example, a set of Michelin Defenders—you initiate the order directly within the platform.

  1. Find the desired tire in the catalog, here https://dealers.tiretutor.com/products-catalog, (e.g., Michelin Defender) and note its availability from a supplier (e.g., ATD).

  2. Click Order Now.

  3. Enter your internal PO number and any necessary notes.

  4. Click Place the Order. The order automatically appears in your list of Purchase Orders, here https://dealers.tiretutor.com/purchases.

Step 2: Receiving the Inventory

When the shipment arrives, you update the system to reflect the tires entering your inventory.

  1. Open the relevant Purchase Order from your list.

  2. Receive the tires into inventory by marking the tires as delivered.

    • Partial Receipts: If you receive only part of the order (e.g., 18 out of 20 tires), the system accurately records the 18 received units.

Step 3: Tracking Real-Time Stock Status

After receiving, the system provides a dynamic view of your stock in the Inventory tab.

  1. Search for the specific Product Code (SKU) of the received tire.

  2. View the Quantity in Stock (e.g., 122 tires).

  3. Crucially, track "Committed" inventory: The system shows a count of tires that have been assigned to an open work order (e.g., "Four are committed"). This means those four tires are already sold and scheduled to leave your shop imminently.

Step 4: Full Lifecycle History and Transfer Out

The system logs every action against the SKU, providing a complete history:

  • History View: Within the inventory details, you can view the full History of the SKU, showing when the initial order was made and all associated Order IDs.

  • Work Order Linkage: See the specific Work Orders where tires were committed (e.g., the four committed tires).

  • Automatic Transfer Out: Once the associated work order is marked as Complete, the system automatically deducts those four tires from your stock, recording their exact time and reason for leaving the shop.

This tracking process gives you an unparalleled level of control, from the moment you click "order" to the moment the tire is successfully sold and installed. That's the way a shop management system should be.
